People nowadays are more disconnected to nature than ever before due to visual media. With environmental problems becoming more evident and worse, there is a struggle to connect people to their environment and develop sympathy.
People tend to stay indoors for most of their daily activities. By connecting the inside with the outside, a visual connection can be established between the person and the environment. This can develop their sympathy towards the environment.
Establishing a high degree of spatial continuity between the interior space and exterior space can develop a natural sympathy from the user towards their environment. This can be done ensuring a high degree of material similarity between the inside and the outside.
Enhancing the spatial continuum especially in spaces of assembly can introduce a dynamic exchange of interactivity between the inside and the outside including the users in both sides. In turn, this could enhance their sympathy towards the environment.
