The study model was made with paper origami triangles and shaped with plastic sheets. This gave the inspiration for this set of plateware. In translation to common plateware materials, the origami paper represents porcelain while the plastic sheet represents glass.
These two materials combined created plateware that plays with light and shadow.
The geometric pattern on the plateware are reminiscent of patterns found in Japanese porcelain, Arita porcelain being one of the most famous.
Instead of being painted, the pattern in this design is created in porcelain thus having a white colour.
Porcelain represents perfection and symmetry in this design.
The bubbles and bumps on the plateware are reminiscent of the imperfections found in Okinawa or Ryukyu glassware.
In this design, these distinct imperfections can be replicated with the same techniques, or in resin through a mould.
Glass represents imperfection and assymetry in this design.
